Cork Library — A 234-Year-Old Story

Look up when you’re passing Pembroke Street and you’ll see “CORK LIBRARY ESTABLISHED 1792”.

The Cork Library Society was founded in 1792 as a subscription library dedicated to learning and knowledge. The society eventually moved into this building around 1904 and remained here until the library closed in 1941.
